Welcome

WELCOME!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit our family blog.
This blog was originally created to post updates on our newborn daughter, which was 4 years ago. God has started using this blog as a ministry and outreach plus a way to record the journey that God is allowing our family to live.
To Our Lord, may He get the Glory and Honor!

Blessings from Shandee

Update: We have been led to further sharing our online journey with posts from the entire family. What started out as a simple blogging journey from a Mother & Wife's perspective has blossomed into a family journey. We now welcome you to The Childress Family Blog.

God's gift to me...all my girls

How many kids can I fit into a picture? NEVER too many!  I celebrate LIFE!
I thank God for being in control of my womb!

How could I ever possibly be lonely or  bored? If only the world could see through my eyes...

Lots to do and not a lot of energy left

I had forgotten how exhausted you feel at the end of pregnancy.  I have LOTS to do and low energy to do it with, but my sweet husband is coming to the rescue yet once again...it's only 8:30 and I"m ready to sleep for the night.

Just know that from here on out, things may be a bit slow for me indefinitely. I will surely post pictures here and there and announce our sweet baby's birth.  Only 5 1/2 weeks to go!  The time has disappeared FAST.

Blessings,
Shandee

"You've Got your Hands Full"

If one more stranger looks at me and says this, I think I will just shout at them, "YES I DO!"
This past week after my dr. appt. it was lunchtime and I took my four little ladybugs to Chik-Fil-A with me. It was near 11:30 so it wasn't very crowded yet.  In the settling of giving out food and sharing waffle fries, I happened to take a moment to look up and the entire Chik-Fil-A counter staff were staring at us along with a man waiting on our food. We absolutely astound them.  The funnest part is when they realize I have "caught" them watching us, they quickly look away. It is hilarious.  I am telling you, if I had one of those tiny little cameras that would fit hidden on my shoulder or waist to capture the looks we get, that would be hours and hours of comedy.  What is so strange about us?!  Because it's 4 girls sitting with their mother having a peaceful lunch or is it because they are looking at me thinking who is this lady with all these little kids? One time a man actually asked me, how many I was taking care of "that" day!!  Ha, ha, I told him I usually have at least 4! We are just sitting there, no one is misbehaving, being loud or cranky-we are just sitting there!!

They are MINE and they are absolute blessings that I have PRAYED for and asked for. They are gifts.  I think the next time someone makes a comment about my hands full or having so many children, I am going to look at them with my big Shandee smile and say, "You have no idea how blessed I am."  OH, one last comment, the funniest part is I was sitting down at the restaurant that day splitting fries and they couldn't even see my hidden growing belly filled with LIFE!  Madison says, only if they knew there is another one on the way!  I should start getting my digital camera out and take pictures of all these people watching us and post for you to believe it.

Deuteronomy 7:13  He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb...

Time Switch

The time stamp on my blog has been incorrect for some time now, I'm trying to figure out how to change it, just an FYI on my tweeking of this setting...

These Days...

These days we are...
  • preparing for the birth of our new baby!  long week last week, had to make a trip to Labor&Delivery-her movement was very low, all was well. Only 7 1/2 weeks till her big day!
  • transitioning Sophie's clothing into the room where she sleeps with big girls
  • finishing Upward Basketball with an Awards Ceremony Saturday
  • studying the British Isles in History
  • preparing for the final days of school-we must be finished near the end of April in order for baby Sister's arrival
  • making lots of trips to Kingsport for Shandee's OB and perinatologist appointments plus the girl's asthma specialist
  • starting a list for warm weather projects for home improvement
  • guitar lessons
  • training, training, training all day. Tonight, I was just recalling the days of having three children age two and under-that was so hard just trying to do anything seemed impossible
  • thanking God in all the ways He blesses us
