Welcome

WELCOME!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit our family blog.
This blog was originally created to post updates on our newborn daughter, which was 4 years ago. God has started using this blog as a ministry and outreach plus a way to record the journey that God is allowing our family to live.
To Our Lord, may He get the Glory and Honor!

Blessings from Shandee

Update: We have been led to further sharing our online journey with posts from the entire family. What started out as a simple blogging journey from a Mother & Wife's perspective has blossomed into a family journey. We now welcome you to The Childress Family Blog.

Christmas!

Lights being strung our house by our sweet Man, the only Man of the house :-)

A Christmas tree is being assembled by Madison to go in her room.

Naomi is chewing on a plastic toy figure of Claire's while laughing at Madison.

Hannah and Claire are outiside with their Daddy asking him a "million" questions while he tries to assemble lights and sort through decorations on our porch. It's cold, they need to be inside!

Sophie just gave me a report, "Jesus is out."

"We light up Baby Jesus," she says!

It's Christmas time! How exciting with 5 children under the age of 9! Four of those under the age of 6.

Mommy is being kept company by a sweet powder-smelling , drooling, cooing 6 month old.
Doesn't get much better than this...

6 Months

6 month milestones...November 8th, 2009,Na

Happy 6 months old, Naomi!

Wow, how you grew! It seems like you were a newborn for only 2 days, I blinked, looked up and there you were with your now chubby little legs and ever-giving smile! You are so sweet, my dear. Your sisters adore you, what it must be like to be you. You still are not sure when or where to look, there are so many voices, so many things to do and so many people to watch, I catch you glancing and turning your sweet head to catch a glimpse of each sister.

At 6 months, you are sitting up, walking lots of places in the walker. This week you started splashing and kicking in your bath, leaving my feet soaked and calling for Madison to bring me my apron to save my clothes. You still have no teeth, you are the only daughter of mine so far to pass 5 months and no teeth. That is just fine with me because that means you can be a baby longer ;-) It's passing so fast, not too much longer and you will be walking. You can drink from a sippy cup and are eating fruits, veggies, and cereal. You are still not on a schedule, you are sleeping good at night, but waking to nurse often day and night. Your dr. asked how I was doing life with hardly any sleep, and I smiled at her, and told her I just was. After so many years of being used to not getting solid sleep, I've just adapted and it is a real treat if you or one of your sisters do not wake up for 5 hours straight.

So far, you have traveled to near Nashville Tn, Pittsburgh, PA, WestVA, and other parts of TN. You are very patient, startle very easily, and love your family. Your first word is "Mim." That is what you call me.

The doctors told me I should not consider giving you LIFE, but God blessed us both and here we are ;-) We love you Naomi.

How sweet you are and how blessed we are to have you!!!

Thank you friends for celebrating a new LIFE with our family. This picture was taken at the hotel we stayed at in Pittsburgh in September.
