Walmart Clearance Lights, Wedding Decor

My daughter also found a 20count for .75 cents.
I would stock up now if you plan to use lighting this summer or spring for weddings or home decor. Great Buys!

New Year's Eve 2010...what are you doing?

Today the girls and I went shopping after some decorating at a friend's house.
We had a great shopping day with gorgeous weather. We snagged some great after Christmas deals and a few goodies for tonight. I was able to pick up many party favors for 25cents each that I will use to fill my daughter's pinata in February. Since she has a winter birthday, snowmen and penguins works perfectly as pinata fillers. Check out Wal-Mart's clearance section. Many things were 75% off and others 50% off.

What are you doing to celebrate the new year? We are doing what we love best. Spending time together as a family. Have some goodies after I prepare them. A favorite is lime-green punch. We love it! I"ll be sure to post a picture and recipe tonight.

Our Menu:
baked ham with biscuits
vegetables
Hidden Valley Ranch Dip
Chips
Lime-Green Punch
Cookies
Fruit Tray
Cheese&Cracker Tray

I can't wait to eat so I better go prepare it ;-)

Christmas Eve Tradition

Once upon a time, when we only had one baby, we started a Family Tradition. On Christmas Eve, we get snuggled in our bed and Daddy reads How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The girls look forward to this as much as the presents. They love getting into our bed and snuggling.  This year, we realized that we have truly outgrown our bed.

The Post Office Trip

Would you believe that I have still not mailed Christmas photo cards?

Yes, it's true!

I started working on cards a few weeks ago after FedEx hand-delivered our photo cards. Unfortunately; as time drew nearer, I had to pick and choose things I was going to accomplish and prioritize. So, the photo cards fell to the bottom of the list.  UNLESS, you are lucky enough to live nearby our family, then of course, we delivered yours last week if you were on our delivery route ;-) The others I will give out at church and then there are mailings.

Mailings. Interesting point. You see, I can barely get out nowadays because it is very cold and snowy and I have several young children.  5 to be under the age of 10, to be exact.  Finally, today, I decided I would get most of the mailings to the post office. After trying all day, we were able to leave at 4:20.  It literally took 30 minutes just to get everyone in snowsuits and bundled up along with the van warmed up.  I was so happy to finally get in the van. Madison carried Naomi out because my hands were full with a tote of letters and envelopes. I was so relieved to be getting all my girls in the van. I tiptoed to the side door at Naomi's seat. Madison was about to sit her down in her seat and then she said, "I think she has a dirty diaper."   What?  How did we get out the door into the van and then find a dirty diaper?!  It was true.

I had to gather Naomi back out of the van, whisk her into the house, and do a diaper clean-up.  Honestly, I was annoyed. My spirit was not joyful. I was very aggravated.  Not at her. Just at the fact that we might miss the post office after trying to get there all day. Plus, I had 4 big helpers and not one of them nor myself knew that Naomi had a dirty diaper before we took her out. As I changed her, I looked into her sweet eyes and got her bundled back up. At that moment, the Lord reminded me-it's not about Shandee. It's about serving. Serving my children and through serving them, I serve HIM!  My work was for Him because I have obeyed Him when he convicted my heart about children and what gifts they are.

Today, I learned about dying to self. My children and my time with them are more important than me being aggravated about walking back into the house and being delayed even further.  Luckily, at our arrival, we were spared 8 minutes before the post office closed and I was able to get most of the photo cards mailed.  There you have it, how I managed to make the post office trip.  Even the smallest things can sometimes be the largest.

SOPHIA4

And THEIR Names are...

MADISON AND HANNAH~!!

I had a dr's appt. this week and Madison willingly learned how to give her sister insulin.
Ma, at the age of 10, you are learning and have learned the things it has taken me 34 years to learn. You are AMAZING ;-)

Hannah, I know you do not like for me to write about you or put pictures of you on here, because every time I do, you tell me to take them down. I do want you to know that in a few years when you look back at this, you will know how proud I am of you. You are SO brave and strong. You teach me that I CAN do things I never thought I could do and I will do them and it will be just fine, right ;-)  Even if it hurts.

If someone had told me 3 weeks ago that you would be taking your own blood sugar readings and giving yourself insulin shots 3 times in a row, I would have said, "No way."  Hannah, you are AMAZING, too.

My sweet little girls, how you bless me and I am so proud of you!!

Guess who is learning to give Insulin?

I'll give you a hint:

It's a Big Sister and I'll tell you her name later!

I"m so proud for such brave young ladies.

I'm Back

I'm back from Christmas!  It was most helpful to relax here at home.

Not much time to catch you up on things.

I did want to note that as of 6 p.m. the roads in Big Stone Gap are covered. Town was slick in spots and covered. I did not see any trucks out at that time working the town roads.  Also, the road here on Shawnee Avenue is bad. WCYB is telling anyone not to get out unless an emergency. Snow is still falling!!
Will my hubby be snowed in tomorrow?

JCPENNEY E-gift card glitch-do not order

Hi Readers,

Just wanted to pass along an FYI in case you were considering buying a JCPenney  egift card to be sent via email.  I purchased one online yesterday and as of now, I still have no gift card after 2 phone calls to JCPenney and one communication by email.
As of right now, there are major back-ups with getting the cards delivered to customers.  They have told me they are backed up and at 11 a.m. JC Penney told me it would be about 3 more hours and now I sit here   still with no gift card. They deducted our bank account yesterday and still have not delivered the ecard so don't waste your time and/or embarass yourself trying to give this as a gift. I was so disappointed, and it appears this is happening to a lot of people.

Merry Christmas

I am taking time today to spend with family!

Have a blessed day and night and enjoy your family.

Some Days with Juvenile Diabetes

Some days, we are so busy, it's just another part of routine.

I can't believe that Hannah has been diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes for almost 3 months now.

I can't believe it's real.

Tonight, she was already asking about the March visit before she went to sleep. I could tell she had a troubled look on her face and she confided she wanted to make sure she got a treat next time.

Is it okay to say that I HATE going to this clinic?  That I HATE that this has happened?
I am not supposed to say Hate. So, forgive me.  I teach my girls to never say the word hate.

This is the road God is allowing. I will not give up believing that God will heal her pancreas. Go pancreas go, it's still working a little!  We trust you, Lord. We really do.

Knoxville

The visit was okay.  We do know that Hannah's blood sugar levels have been elevated since she has been sick on and off since October. Is this good?  No. We are adjusting insulin, but as of today there is no real improvement. I will be giving them this past week's readings tomorrow night and they will call me Thursday. I have no idea what they will suggest; we keep going up on her dosage and that disappoints me.  Notice her pink bandage. She had unexpected bloodwork, the 2nd time in 5 days and they did not even offer her a prize because she did not give them a fit or fight. Next time, I will NOT Leave until my daughter is offered a treat. I did not like that she would have been rewarded if she would have fought and screamed, but since she was cooperative, she was given the same treatment as siblings-Child Life with the Clinic. I"ll post about Child Life another time.

Frugal Gift Idea #2

Home-made DishWasher Detergent

Sophia helped me mix and prepare this one.  After mixing, we put them in glass jars and paired them with a scoop and wrapped them in ribbon. Away they went with us in delivery baskets this morning.

Santa's Forest

Update:  I believe trees are now on sale!

A few weeks ago, everyone was feeling better and we were in full swing of Christmas preparations.

It was a snowy, wintry Saturday afternoon. The perfect weather for going to a local store to pick out our Christmas tree.  We drove to Santa's Forest which is only approximately 1 minute away from our house. We had a memorable time searching for our tree. Sharing some photos.

Come Back!

If you're checking out the blog, come back, pictures are being uploaded now and downloaded later onto our family blog.

Frugal Gift Idea #1

Music CD's

A few months back, Amazon had a free music download for an entire free cd for anyone. All you had to do was download the album. I am using this cd as a filler for a gift.  The only cost is the cd itself and the electricity to burn it from the pc.

Currently, Amazon has a free 25 Days of Christmas album download.
Click here to get it.  I do not necessarily recommend every download, but it is worth looking into.

Crowded in Stores Tonight

I went out to do a bit of shopping tonight and Food City and Walmart in Big Stone were so crowded.  As a stay-at-home mom, I don't get out a lot; especially in the winter time because I try to not get the younger ones out in such cold air.  Anyways, for some reason, I had it in my mind that I was missing out in some way, that I was out of touch with Christmas and even the world around me.  After being out in the busyness tonight, I do not feel like I am missing out on one thing.  SO, my friends, do your shopping online, you will get great deals if you look and FREE shipping too-not to mention, stressfree shopping. Amazon has some really good buys right now. Check them out and on some items, even free 1 day shipping!

I have many things to do tonight before I can settle in. I'm burning discs right now that I am putting in some gift bags for some younger children.  The girls and I worked out to finish up the home-made gifts we have been working on for some time now. I'll have pictures up in a few days. I can't wait to show you the gifts we have made for nearly no cost!  Remember, I did post one earlier in the month.

The weather is calling for another ice storm, I"m not sure if it will happen or not.
We will postpone our  delivery if that should happen.

Happy Shopping and Holiday Preparing!

Updates on the girls

Before we left for Knoxville, I did not give much detail on the girl's illness. Dr. B. told us that Naomi would probably take about a month to fully recover from the RSV.  We actually had to do a breathing treatment with her at 3 a.m. today.

They are all recovering and were able to participate in the play lastnight. It was very neat and I was so proud. Hannah was too embarassed to go on stage, but I am hopeful next year she will be hiding behind her piano and that their music will have an extra instrument added ;-)  I know God has big things in ministry for our family! What ministry?  I don't know, but it is so exciting.

Thank you for praying and we were blessed!

I will be sure to update on the appointment in Knoxville by tomorrow.

They're HERE!

I got a great deal from seehere.com on our Photo cards and I just got them delivered to my door!  Yippee!
Now, I can send out our Christmas Cards!

60 cards shipped to my home for around $5 total shipping +cards!

The Most Fascinating Christmas Lights Ever

We are back. Not unpacked, not settled in, but we are home and gearing up for the Christmas Play tomorrow.

Lastnight; after having dinner, Hannah spotted an odd, peculiar light that she was trying to describe to us. It was cold and we were all worn from a long, tiresome, stressful day.  After getting into our cramped  cozy minivan, we began to see the light Hannah had mentioned!

Wow! This is what we saw! (It is definitely worth checking out!!)
It was aboslutely, the greatest Christmas lights I have ever seen. We asked a lady at the Restaurant and she informed us that the cost was $20 so we xed that off our list; especially, since it was near 8 o'clock and the kids may have been too tired to enjoy it. It looked spectacular with streaming, flashing, flickers of colorful lights. However, since I am a bargain hunter and will do without but still get a sample of things, made a suggestion to my dear, patient husband who just so happened to be driving ;-)  "Could we at least drive the back of the parking lot to see the lights?" I asked. And he so willingly agreed. The girls were satisfied as well and ready to return to our room.

Later that night, my sweet little Sophie, called out to me to come to the window. And, her being the climber and gymnast that she is, had gotten into the window sill and spotted the flashing lights from our hotel room window. We could not see the entire picture like in the video or hear music, but it was still amazing.

It took us a while to settle everyone in and by that time, Rick and I were beyond  ready to fall fast alseep in the sleeper sofa that had springs so ever-feeling through the mattress. We snuggled as best we could until I got up to take care of our baby later. We were all warm, safe, and not hungry. It was a blessing to be together. Hannah decided she wanted to sleep in the pack-n-play, which she loves!  She has asked for one for her birthday for many years now. The rest had the comfiest beds with white, fluffy pillows and blankies. This hotel had the best bedding and most modern comforts that we have ever seen.

Pictures and more are sure to follow. Goodnight for now and God Bless.

Children's Christmas Play

East Stone Gap Methodist Church Christmas Play

Sunday, December 19th, 2010

7 p.m.

The Childress Girls are planning to open up the service with their music.

The Event our children have been waiting for!

Pediatrician Gives us the GO

Today, our pediatrician told us the girls were well enough to make the trip tomorrow so we are going, weather permitting.  Here's my cuties at snacktime, and notice our buddy, the black nebulizer in the background. We will need it for breathing treatments. Pray for safe travel for us. The Ronald McDonald House is still not able to accomodate us there, as of tonight. Rick and I will have some homework to do tonight to find a  warm hotel for the night that will house us and our 5 kiddos without breaking the fire marshall code ;-)

SideNote:  Please pray for Hannah's visit, for wisdom for doctor's, and God's annointing on this visit. That HE will get the glory since He has chosen this road for our family. Remember, the nurse I told you about last visit?  Blessings, Shandee-Hannah's Mommy

Family Update

If you're checking in on us:

We are still on the mends. With myself sick or not, tomorrow morning, all 5 girls have appointments to be seen by their Pediatrician. Some are follow-ups from the ER visits and two of them need to be evaluated. We are still fighting. It may just take some time to get over. I really need to have peace before we set out to Knoxville for Hannah's Endocrinologist visit Friday. Knoxville Ronald McDonald House still cannot house us, but they are working with us much better this time.  They are working with us to find hotel at a reduced rate, so that is much better and much more helpful than our first visit in October.

Of course, all this depends on the weather. An icestorm is supposed to hit tonight or in the morning. Sounds pretty bad, so we'll see.

Here I Am...

Okay, here's where I am in my journey...

First, let me back up.

When I was a little girl, I would sit and play with my Cabbage Patch dolls and "mommy" them. I loved them, I named them all. I diapered them, I fed them, I carried them in a carriage. I vividly remember a soft white polk-a-dot gown and my preemie Cabbage Patch with an orange binkie in it's mouth. I could never have too many baby dolls to love. I was dreaming about being a Mommy.  How sweet and fun to be a Mommy! That is all I dreamt about and knew that my heart's desire was to have babies one day. Never did I want just one, I knew there were more.

Okay, so here I am-to the present. I have my babies and some are older now. I did not once think my child would have asthma or diabetes. I didn't know such illnesses. I didn't know of any illness at all. I thought that my babies would be perfectly content and I would never grow tired or get sick myself or would count my lucky stars to get showered!  Or homeschooling?  No, that was not even considered either.

Wow, the Lord has grown me since the beginning and now stretching me these past few months, actually most of this year. Today, I am full-blown sick with the other children and my husband is fighting sickness and fighting to help me. He came home tonight to sweep me off my feet and sit me down to rest on the couch.  Resting. He's in control of bathing my sweet baby I dreamt about years back and running things so I can sit and rest myself.  (Sidenote: If you are thinking I am so lucky to have a man to help like that-yes, I am-BUT, it has taken us many years to get to this point!)

Why did I say all that?  Just to say, that sometimes, I am learning most all times, things never turn out the way we think they are going to. We all have times of illness and journeys that we'd rather turn around and run the other way, but we must stay focused on what God is leading us to do and trust me, He will carry you through one way or another.  Be blessed and please enjoy your family, it's the most precious time.

NEWSFLASH:  Sophie , my 4 year old, just came running through the house exclaiming, "I MADE AN E IN CURSIVE!!!!!"

Children's Chrismas Play Request

Please pray that our girls will be well enough and heal to do this Christmas Play on Sunday. They have looked forward to this since October. Also, the other children participating should be covered in prayer.

Forgot to Mention Hannah

I did fail to mention that Hannah's blood sugar levels have been high these past few days and she has ketones which means a close watch after her. I will be calling her office shortly.

Updates on Illness

If you have stopped by to check on our sweet daughters-thank you!

They seem to be doing better.  Not all the way better, still breathing treatments and medicine; but, thankfully, they are not coughing constantly! I am due to have them rechecked from the ER visit so I will plan to do that after I look at the weather to find a warmer day.

We are still scheduled in Knoxville for Friday and not certain how that will work out. Rick and I both woke up feeling bad today, but our immune system seems to be trying to kick this illness out!  I'm doing natural remedies and supplements to try to get this gone.  I will let you know if we go so you will know to keep us in your prayers for travelling mercies.

Blessings, Shandee

Finally-about the children

Thank you for so faithfully praying for our girls.  They are still not well, BUT there are some  improvements.  Claire was near being admitted but the same dr. that saw Naomi saw the girls at the ER and she remembered meeting me because I left an impression on her because when she came in the room, my sweet Naomi was snuggled in her sling nursing.  Anyways, after meeting Rick and me, she was comfortable to send her home with meds plus a big, burning, hurtful shot of rocephin(spelling?)

Brief Summary: Hannah has an ear infection on top of the infection in her lungs.  Claire has pneumonia.
Madison, Sophia, and Naomi are still coughing and some illness in their body. We know Naomi is recovering from RSV, but not sure what is going on with the others.
They are still doing breathing treatments.  Their Asthma specialist's office was closed today and it was bad weather so we did not get to make it to that. They will probably call tomorrow.

The good news is children are up and about playing and eating. That is something to be thankful for and I thank you for prayers. I will update as can.  We are still scheduled to leave for Knoxville early Friday and this is the only slot they have before Christmas and we really need this  appointment for insurance reasons so we are in prayer on what God wants us to do for our family in getting to this far-away appointment.

Thanks for your faithfulness to check on us.

Love, Shandee

Prayer

Please pray for the Childress girls, Naomi was diagnosed with RSV this week and the other girls have it,too.  Rick has taken two of them to the ER right now because they are not responding to at-home treatment this week and their asthma makes it all worse.  The illness has also caused Hannah's blood sugars to remain elevated for weeks.  The girls have been very excited for the Children's Christmas Play next week and have been practicing since October in order to open up the program with their music so we ask for healing in the name of Jesus because they do not want to miss this.

On my search, how did we get RSV? !!!

Where does RSV come from and how can I prevent my child from being infected?
Children and adults of all ages can become infected with RSV. The infection in older children and adults may be very mild, usually causing cold-like symptoms. A person becomes infected by coming in contact with another infected person or with the secretions from an infected person. An infant usually acquires the infection from contact with an older family member who may have only mild, cold-like symptoms.
As noted earlier, RSV occurs throughout the year, but because it occurs in wide-scale, sudden outbreaks and is so prevalent in the winter months, it is not feasible or advisable to attempt to prevent the normal child's exposure to RSV infection. When a family member is infected, extra precautions may be taken by washing hands often and preventing the spread of infectious secretions on tissues and objects.

Sophie and Mommy

Sophie has had a really bad day. She fell asleep early tonight.
It's been a hard week.

Taking a break

Just an FYI...taking a break from blogging tomorrow.

You are welcome to call if you are curious about the girls. If no one should answer, one of us can call or email you back.  Sometimes, it's so hard to hear the phone over the nebulizer breathing machine.

Some girls are resting and others still can't settle down from coughing, but I praise God that no one is struggling(so far) like lastnight.

Have  a blessed weekend.

Ebates

For those who are shopping online this year, there is a neat incentive to search through Ebates and this company tracks your sales and sends you cash back in a few months from your online sales. I just signed up, but think it will be a good thing when I receive a cash back check for shopping I was doing anyways!

Update

Well, all are the same.  A few worse. I called our Asthma Specialist because I was getting very concerned about Sophia. She has been very draggy all day and not herself. Lastnight was an extremely hard night. I pray that she and Hannah can rest.  Our specialist called in some steroids to help open lungs because some are still having trouble breathing; they have never had trouble breathing like this.

We will be going to the Specialist in Kingsport Monday. I do pray the girls can be better very quickly because we are due in Knoxville at the Endocronologist's office Friday morning.  I have called requesting them to send me information on accomodations since the Ronald McDonald House will not house us. I called early this week to find arrangments with them and left a message. I know from earlier, there were problems housing our family. We are simply a "fire marshall code."  Simply means there are too many of us per room and they will not allow us more than one room. I am very disappointed that the Ronald McDonald house is discriminating against us because we are a large family. That makes my heart so sad. It's Christmas Time!!!   Anyways, I have left messages at our E's office in Knoxville requesting the nearby hotels and still no calls returned.  If anyone knows of a family-friendly hotel nearby the East TN Children's Hospital, I would thank you dearly to email me that info.

I am SO thankful Rick is home tomorrow to help me manage all this.

Blessings my friends!

No change

No change, no update... still a lot of sickness, coughing and breathing treatments. Two of the children were throwing up from drainage and we didn't get everyone settled until about 1 a.m.

Very hectic morning... wondering if these coughs and breathing problems may be prompting dr visits of some sorts.  Still high blood sugars for Hannah, can't get them low when she is sick.

Will update as I can.

When an Illness Hits Your Home with Many Sick Children

Sick children, several young ones all sick at the same time.

Maybe you've been there. Maybe you ARE there. Or maybe you just ran across this blog by mistake.
Any way you look at it, having a sick child is stressful and upsetting. YOU want to make it all better. YOU want to take the hurt away. YOU want to make it all stop. But, no matter what YOU do, it won't go away. I've been there several times this year. I'm there right now. All I know to do is to PRAY and trust God because no matter what I physically do, it is ultimately in God's hands.

Well, my fourth daughter has just been throwing up the past 20 minutes, on and off. I put the pc down a bit ago and went to her. Her loving Daddy has been with her and he just told me to leave. He knew I  we are physically and mentally drained and she was okay enough for me to leave the room. Hannah can get in a really bad way fast with throwing up because of her diabetes; thus, now prompting ketone checks.

Guess it's not a good night to blog.

Thanks for listening and praying.

Love, Shandee

Naomi taking her treatment

I couldn't believe she was wanting to hold this herself, but she has seen 4 big sissies and is copy-catting them.  She is sick, but her Daddy made her smell so sweet when he bathed her latsnight.

Morning Update

Naomi had a much more peaceful night. Things are about the same as far as everyone else. I am very concerned about Madison having pneumonia. If she is not better tonight after Rick comes home, we are considering taking her to the ER. She is still asleep right now, which is very odd for her. My girls are early risers so she must be feeling pretty bad. Thank you for your prayers and concerns.

Cough, cough.

Wipe noses, remind others to wipe noses and wash hands.

Keep everyone hydrated with water.

Give treatments.

Wash Neb Tubing after each treatment.

Give medicine.

Prepare food.

Clean up food.

Get morning jobs done and everyone dressed.

Take blood sugars for Hannah give insulin, and give more insulin after she eats.

That'll take us up to around 10:30.

Update-all are sick and Hannah now needing a treatment

All of the girls are now sick; we started breathing treatments over an hour ago. Sure does take a long time to do 5 neb treatments. Hannah is coughing very hard and Rick is with her now. Please pray she can fight this. This is very serious when she gets sick. Pray against pneumonia for all of them. Madison sounded really bad at bedtime.  Asthma is unfortunate, especially when you get sick! My motherly instinct makes me worry, but I am praying. Please join me and agree for no hospital stays!

Naomi- RSV...Really

Okay,  my girls have been coughing here and there. Madison and Naomi the worst yesterday. Today it has moved onto all the girls. Cough, cough, cough.

Lastnight, Naomi really scared me. One of the most scared times ever with my children. She could not stop crying. She was having trouble breathing and was so scared. In between gasps, she called out, "Ma, mama, mama."  Rick suggested a treatment, he was right!  Shortly afterwards, we got her settled and she and I set forth the ER this morning.

The doctor came in after tests, and said, "She has RSV."

I looked at her, questioningly, sadly, and almost unbelievably. "Are you serious?"

She shook her head yes, gave me options, called the pediatrician and agreed to let us go home and not have another hospital stay this year. IF I promised to take really good care of her at home. I promised!!!

I can't believe RSV is what is wrong with her. The other girls have it, too.  If treatments do not help, we have to get back to the ER and they will probably admit her. So pray the treatments are effective and complete healing on our household.

I know, I know it could be worse, but this is really disheartening. They all just got better!!
BUT, God did tell me something about all the obstacles we have faced this year, as hard as it has been...We are learning and through these circumstances, we are made stronger, and learn many things if we trust and I do trust! That's all we have.

Thanks for prayers.

School is off temporarily and I will update as can.

Blessings, Shandee

Christmas Shopping

Wow, there are lots of great online deals for FREE shipping to your home!  (Pictured Above: Me Saving Money and Shopping at home in the dark while my cuties are resting.)

That is very convenient when it's cold outside and you have lots of cute, young children and babies ;-)
Like me ;-)

Here's a great idea: if family is giving you money to shop for the kids, go online and have it delivered. Here's our scenario:  the grandparents give us money to shop for the children. This is great because we can shop for what the kids want, get the right size, and get something they actually need.  Want to make it a sweeter deal? Find a store with free shipping and have it shipped to Grandma's House(or whoever you are shopping for.) You can have it shipped to her door without leaving your house!  FOR FREE!! She will get to look through it and wrap if she wants and enjoy knowing what Grandpa's hard earned dollars have purchased! This works only if the one you are shopping for plans on stopping in at your house to deliver it.

I would suggest NEVER just check out without a promo code. ALWAYS search online for a promo code to get FREE shipping and/or a discount.

I saved $40 and got free shipping at Land's End tonight. I'm so proud of myself!  I get no commission, but in case you're wondering, click here to go to Land's End.  Enter Promo Code wreath25 and
Pin # 2123 for 25% off and Free shipping!  Enjoy.

Hannah's Ilness

As we prepare for Christmas and as the cool weather with slushy snow and freezing rain sets in, I begin to think about our upcoming drive to Knoxville.  In less than 2 weeks, Hannah will have her 2nd visit to the Pediatric Endocronologist.  I am thinking they may consider doing more bloodwork at this visit and that makes me sad. She already sees enough needles.

Her blood sugar levels have been inconsistent and exceeding normal limits since she got sick 3 weeks ago. We had the really high spike and since then she has not been doing good with her readings. She is already up to 7 units on Levamir and I really do not want to have to increase that. I"m just not sure what they'll call in and tell me Monday when I submit her readings. We need them to be lower and still do pray that her pancreas will work, work, work.

Blessings,
Shandee

Some Frugal Gifts

The girls and I usually prepare our Chex Mix recipe and share with some friends and family. This year, we are using a new approach. Frugal, fun, and non-traditional gifts. We will are giving gifts that we  either grew organically or made. Without the fuss of mixing and baking, this allows us to take our music on the road to visit some dear loved ones and celebrate the love of Jesus with them. The guitar will be the only instrument this year. The mandolin and keyboard will stay at home.

I know you really want to know what we're making.  We were working on this particular gift this past Saturday.

And, I will not ruin the surprise because I know some of you reading will be receiving this treat.
BUT, I will post some pictures of us creating the gifts. The girls have had the best time.

Christmas Cheer

Hi Friends,

We are patiently awaiting to get our Family Christmas Photos from our photo session on November 21st!
Hannah was feeling particularly bad that day so I'm not sure how they turned out.  It was honestly the hardest photo session we have ever taken.  It's still us and I am wanting to share them and I need to get them before I share them. I'm so excited, I have a new design I want to use on my blog that will go perfectly with our Christmas Colors. As soon as I get that disk, my layout will be bright and the family picture on the right will be updated!  Check back soon.

Food City

I ran across an entire section of gluten-free pasta here at the Big Stone Gap Food City!

Also, I ran across some mariani dried cherries marked down from $4.99 to .99cents!

We're late getting the girls settled from tonight's church service so I'll be short and sweet.

Goodnight and God Bless.

Young Living Essential Oils

This is the presentation I attended on Monday night.
It was really need to find out that the annointing oil that is referred to in the Bible actually has healing properties, that is why it was called annointing oil!
